18+ everywhere

You must be at least 18 years old to use Poplous, start matching, create a guest session, create an account, or use premium features.

Poplous is not directed to minors and is not intended for anyone under 18.

If Poplous learns or reasonably suspects that a user is under 18, Poplous may block matching, suspend access, disable accounts or guest sessions, limit future access, preserve limited safety evidence, and take required reporting or enforcement steps.

Neutral age confirmation

Before matching, Poplous asks users to confirm that they are 18 or older. The age-confirmation prompt is neutral and does not encourage users to guess the expected answer.

Example wording is: "Are you 18 or older?" with neutral choices such as "Yes" and "No." Poplous avoids manipulative wording that pressures or shames users into selecting the adult answer.

Age confirmation is a condition of using the service. False confirmations can lead to matching blocks, session restrictions, account restrictions, termination, and future access limits.

What happens if a user may be under 18

If a user states that they are under 18, selects an under-18 age option, fails an age check, refuses a required age check, or is reasonably suspected to be under 18, Poplous may block matching, restrict access, disable accounts or sessions, preserve limited safety evidence, and take legally required reporting or enforcement steps.

Statements such as "I am under 18," school-grade disclosures, age claims, or other signals suggesting a user is a minor may result in immediate restriction or review.

If you believe another user is under 18, report the conversation or user. Do not ask them for ID documents or pressure them to disclose sensitive personal information.

No ID upload in the normal flow

Poplous does not require ID upload in the normal age-confirmation flow.

Users must not send ID documents, payment cards, selfies for verification, government identifiers, or other sensitive documents through chat.

Poplous will not ask users to verify age by sending identity documents inside a chat conversation.

Users must not ask other users to prove their age by sending IDs, selfies, school information, government identifiers, payment cards, or other sensitive personal information.

Risk-based secondary checks

Age attestation is one layer of Poplous's age-control approach. Poplous may add stronger checks when required by law, jurisdiction, product risk, safety signals, reports, or enforcement history.

Secondary checks may include additional age confirmation, account review, phone or email verification, payment-related eligibility checks, third-party age estimation, third-party age verification, or other age-assurance methods appropriate to the risk and law.

Secondary checks collect the least sensitive data reasonably available to satisfy the legal or safety need.

If a required secondary check is not completed, cannot confirm eligibility, or indicates that a user may be under 18, Poplous may restrict or terminate access.

Do not help a minor access Poplous, share your session with a minor, create an account for a minor, use another person's information to bypass age checks, or help anyone misrepresent age.

Age-check data handling

Poplous uses age-check information only to determine eligibility, enforce the 18+ rule, prevent evasion, protect users, and comply with legal obligations.

Where stronger checks are required, Poplous is designed to preserve verification status, age-check results, timestamp, provider reference, and audit information where possible instead of raw identity documents, biometric inputs, or full verification materials.

If a third-party age-assurance provider is used, that provider may process age-check information according to its own applicable notices and contractual limits.

Mistaken age restrictions and review

Age controls and safety signals can make mistakes. If you believe Poplous incorrectly restricted your access for age-related reasons, you may request review through the available support or appeal path.

Some restrictions may remain active during review where needed for user safety, child safety, legal compliance, fraud prevention, or service protection.
